Research Focus

M. Zaworotko is Chair of the Department of Chemistry at USF and is a leading figure in the field of crystal engineering of novel solids. He has published over 220 scientific papers, including 5 review articles, and was co-director of a NATO-ASI titled "Crystal Engineering: The Design and Application of Functional Solids" (Sep 8-20 1996, Nova Scotia). This was the first international meeting devoted to the subject of crystal engineering. His research program involves several projects, the two most active of which are design of new phases of drug molecules (binary and ternary organic phases) and materials by design (organic and metal-organic hybrid structures, nanostructures). Presently we are engaged in several research projects that are linked to materials design and properties.
