Chemistry Department Course Evaluation Process

Chemistry Course Transfer Evaluation Form

Pre-requisites that were taken at private or out-of-state institutions must be evaluated for equivalency to the USF pre-requisite by the academic department that offers the course. Any chemistry transfer courses must be evaluated by the Department of Chemistry at the request of the student. To request a course evaluation, complete our online form below and upload a syllabus to the form. Do not request a permit until your course evaluations are completed!

Following the submission of your course evaluation, you will receive a confirmation email. Please retain this copy for your records. You will receive an email from the chemistry advisors with the evaluation results as soon as we receive them from the appropriate faculty member.

  • Students who transfer in chemistry credit from private or out-of-state institutions must request course evaluations to determine equivalency to the USF chemistry coursework.
  • This request must be completed in full and accompanied by a course syllabus.
  • Fill out a separate form for EACH chemistry course evaluation request (only one course, one syllabus allowed per request).
  • Pre-requisites for chemistry courses are enforced for all students, including non-degree-seeking and non-chemistry majors. This means that these students must follow the Department of Chemistry Course Evaluation guidelines in order to be permitted to take any chemistry coursework.
  • Students will be notified via email regarding the result of the course evaluation. This process may take several weeks to complete and your patience is appreciated. If equivalency is approved, permits may be requested here:  Permit Request Form.  Permits will NOT be issued until the evaluations are complete!

Submission Process:
Step 1:  Locate a copy of the syllabus for your transfer chemistry course.
If you do not still have a copy, you can contact your previous school and request one.

Step 2:  Scan your syllabus into a PDF file.
Please scan all pages of the syllabus into one file. If you have more than one chemistry course for review, please scan each syllabus as a separate file. If you do not have access to a scanner, you can use the scanners available in the USF Library Learning Commons. Please note that each course syllabus must be submitted individually for evaluation.

Step 3:  Name the PDF file the same as the name of the course.
For example, if you took CHE 101 General Chemistry I, please name the file "CHE 101 General Chemistry I.pdf".

Step 4:  Below, check off the course you wish to receive credit for pending the evaluation.
Ex: CHE 101, General Chemistry, you will check CHM 2045 for just the lecture. If you are requesting an evaluation for a combined lecture and lab course you would check both CHM 2045 and CHM 2045L.

Note: If your syllabi are from an overseas institution we cannot accept your personal translation, you must have a 3rd party translation.

Requesting a course evaluation does NOT guarantee it will be equivalent to the course offered at USF!
