We offer a variety of research programs: bio-inorganic chemistry, bio-organic chemistry, chemical eduaction, clinical chemistry, computer modeling, dendrimer synthesis, enzymes, environmental chemistry, fluorescence, heterocycles, lasers, marine chemistry, mass spectrometry, medicinal chemistry, NMR utilizing FT techniques, nucleotides and nucleic acids, photochemistry, polymer chemistry, proteins, surface chemistry, thermodynamics, transition-metal chemistry and other areas.
We are an emerging university in a high-growth area that is undergoing considerable expansion in the scientific, technological, and medical fields. We have strong collaborative research efforts with the College of Engineering, the Medical School, and the College of Public Health, all within walking distance of the Department of Chemistry.
The Department of Chemistry provides individual access to on-line computer searching of Chemical Abstracts and their databases. The excellent computing facilities of the University and the Department of Chemistry are available to all Chemistry Graduate Students.
