Domestic Students
Health Insurance - Student Health Services (Located in building SHS):
Immunizations - Student Health Services (Located in building SHS):
- Bring medical records to show immunity for mumps,measles, and rubella.
Teaching Assistant / Research Assistant Appointments
Advising Committee Meeting (SCA 403)
- The Chemistry Graduate Office will provide you with the names of your advising committee members.

Note: All of the above items must be completed before you can register for classes.
Registration
Bank Account(s):
- You can open an account at any bank; most students use the USF Credit Union. Most services are free, and checking and savings accounts provide interest. You can apply for an account at the Main Office on
the north side of campus (located at 13302 N. Palm Drive), or at the Marshall Center Branch (located in the Marshall Center, near the
USF Bookstore).
Campus E-mail Account:
- All students can receive free e-mail through the university.
- Contact Academic Computing (located in LIB 618), or CAS Computing (located in SCA 210).
Student Identification Card:
- ID cards are obtained from the Card Center located in the Marshall Center.
Keys and Door Codes:
- Contact the Chemistry office (CHE 205) to complete the appropriate key request cards.
International Students
Social Security Number:
- Applications are available from the Graduate Secretary (SCA 403) or via the web
- The Social Security Office is located on N. Dale Mabry Blvd. (Address). Please contact the Graduate Program Assistant if you are
unable to arrange transportation.
- It will take two (2) weeks to receive your card, or the SSA office can provide a phone number you can call to obtain your SSN in
advance.
Note: Employment (Appointment) paperwork cannot be completed without a Social Security Number.
Check in with International Student & Scholarly Services (Located in CPR 245):
- Bring passport, I-20, and I-94
Register for Test of Spoken English (Located in CPR 443):
- You can arrange this immediately after check in with International Student & Scholarly Services.
Health Insurance - Student Health Services (Located in building SHS):
- All international students are required to have health insurance before enrolling in classes. Payment is due Friday after classes
begin.

- Appointment paperwork can be prepared the same day you call to obtain your Social Security Number.
Registration (SCA 403)
- The Graduate Coordinator and Graduate Secretary will assist you with course enrollment for the first semester.
Note: All of the above items must be completed before you can register for classes.
Living Accommodations / Apartment
- Graduate student housing is available on campus (Magnolia Apartments). In
addition, there are a few apartment complexes that accommodate newly arriving international students (e.g., University Townhouse
Apartments and Fontana Hall).
After you have received your Social Security Card in the mail, you can complete the following tasks:
Inform the University of South Florida of your Social Security Number:
- Complete a Change of Social Security form at the Registrar’s Office (located in SVC 1034). Bring your Social Security Card with
you.
Student Identification Card:
- ID cards are obtained from the Card Center located in the Marshall Center.
- You must have a copy of your course registration showing your Social Security Number, not the temporary identification number
(e.g., 999-xx-xxxx).
