CAS student receives Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship  [05.17.2013]
Monica Velasco of the University of South Florida has been awarded a Gilman Scholarship to study abroad in Beijing and Qingdao, China during the summer 2013 semester. She will be studying Mandarin and Chinese culture with USF’s Chinese Learning in the Culture Tier 1 program. Velasco is one of just 700 students to study abroad during the summer with the Gilman scholarship.

CAS student receives Boren Scholarship [05.08.2013]
Shaza Hussein of the University of South Florida has been awarded a Boren Scholarship to fund her study of Arabic abroad in Oman during summer 2013. Hussein is one of only 161 U.S. citizens who will study abroad during the 2013-2014 academic year through the Boren Scholarship. The Boren Scholarship will cover the costs of round trip transportation to Oman and maintenance for the summer 2013.

Chemistry professor named Distinguished University Professor [05.06.2013]
Michael J. Zaworotko, Ph.D., who has been named one of this year’s Distinguished University Professors (DUP). DUP is an honor given to individuals exhibiting an outstanding scholarly record while making significant contributions to USF and his or her profession.
