Advising Duties

  • Assists students with decisions about course and program selections, class registration, and major declarations
  • Assists students in accessing the academic resources of the University
  • Helps monitor the academic progress of students, offers appropriate support
  • Provides pre-health advising when appropriate
  • Monitors and follows up on AA Holds and Mid Term Grades
  • Familiarizes students with college academic expectations
  • Assists students in acquiring a functional knowledge of academic policies, requirements, and practices
  • Refers students to appropriate University services as needed

Professional Experience

Kelly Pearson originally hails from Miami, FL and graduated from the University of Florida in 2007. Kelly came to USF in February 2010 from the University of Kentucky, where she worked in the Office of Residence Life as a Resident Director. Since her arrival, Kelly has worked as an Academic Advisor for the Department of Chemistry. In her role, she assists students in progressing towards their academic and professional goals. In 2012, Kelly became one of five Lead Advisors for the College of Arts and Sciences. Additionally, she has recently taken on the role of Coordinator for the Medical Technology Internship program. When not working, Kelly is studying for her Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration.
