OASIS currently checks for pre-requisite course completion for all Chemistry classes. If you have met the pre-requisites for a Chemistry course but receive an error message when registering, you need to receive a permit in order to register for the course.
You must meet each pre-requisite for a class to receive a permit. If you are taking a pre-requisite course elsewhere, you must provide documentation of your FINAL grade in this course before a permit will be given (for example, if you are taking CHM2211 at HCC in the summer, you must provide proof of your FINAL GRADE in that course before being given a permit for BCH 3023 for fall).
Pre-requisites that were taken at private or out-of-state institutions must be evaluated for equivalency to the USF pre-requisite by the academic department that offers the course. Any chemistry transfer courses must be evaluated by the Department of Chemistry at the request of the student. To request a course evaluation, submit a catalog course description or syllabus (preferred) along with the Course Evaluation Form (PDF) to CHE 205 or fax to (813) 974-3203. Do not request a permit until your course evaluations are completed!
Please utilize the Online Permit Request Form and follow the instructions on how to submit documentation. You will need to send proof of the pre-requisites to the Chemistry Department in CHE 205 or fax to (813) 974-3203. If your SASS report (available from http://www.facts.org) does not reflect pre-requisite coursework, you must provide proof of your pre-requisites by attaching your unofficial transcript or official grade report to the confirmation email receipt. Due to the high volume of permit requests and emails, you will not receive confirmation that your permit has been issued. Once it has been issued you will be able to register for the course. You will only be notified if your permit has been denied.
There is a Time Conflict form you can take to each instructor. If they *both* agree to the time conflict, they will sign, and after you get both signatures on the form you can turn it in to either department for the override.
Please be advised that under no circumstances will time conflict forms be approved for Summer Organic Chemistry I (CHM 2210) and Organic Chemistry II (CHM 2211) courses.
